Wacom Intuos 3
Wacom Intuos 3 is arguably one of the best Graphics Tablets to hit the market. It has attracted tremendous interest. Launched as a successor to the Intuos 2,the Intuos3 has a 6x8 inch drawing surface mounted on a rectangular slab of plastic. Other models with different drawing surface dimensions are also available (4x5 and 9x12-inch). The Intuos 3 wireless pen is shaped differently than the older Intuos 2 version but is almost same functionally. It supports 1024 levels of pressure with tilt sensitivity, which results in differing effects on different pen pressures and tilts.The ease of airbrushing using the Intuos3 in photoshop was pretty evident in the first try with extremely accurate motion and pressure sensors. The patented, pressure-sensitive pen works wonders with your graphical creations.
An eraser mode is achieved by inverting the pen as in a real pencil with an eraser on its top. Like previous versions, this pen has a two-button finger switch like other versions. The tablet also comes with a cordless mouse as shown in the picture. This mouse works only when the tablet in Mouse Pad mode.
The best and compelling new feature in the Intuos3 is a thin vertical Touch Strip on each side of the tablet that can be used to perform common functions requiring variable input. This strip can be used to zoom in or out the images that we are working on as in the touch sensitive circle around the buttons of the iPod used to adjust volume or select a song!!
We noticed that the Intuos3's new input features are useful, and the variable input of the Touch Strips is very instinctive, Wacom's software that was bundled does not come anywhere near to using the new features to full advantage. But although the Intuos3 is a great product to work for Graphics Professional, we doubt the reasons for an upgrade from Intuos 2.
